Despite having monitoring tools in place, the client struggled with visibility, repeat issues and slow diagnostics.

Catapult identified two core problems:

1. Outdated tooling. The existing Elastic/ELK stack was an older version, collecting minimal data with no dashboards or visibility into infrastructure and middleware.

2. Insufficient diagnostics. The support team lacked the insight to perform fast root cause analysis (RCA), leading to recurring issues and delayed fixes, which caused friction between development and operations teams.

To maintain service quality and reduce incident fatigue, the client needed a shift from basic monitoring to full observability.

Catapult transitioned the client to a modern observability approach, integrating logs, metrics and traces into an upgraded Elastic stack.

Key actions included:

· Upgraded the Elastic/ELK stack to the latest version for improved data handling

· Defined key metrics and SLAs in collaboration with development and support teams

· Configured proactive alerts and dashboards to provide real-time service health and incident visibility

· Implemented a runbook framework, guiding support teams through incident resolution and root cause prevention
